STATION PROFILE Nexstar acquired WFFT as part of the Quorum Broadcasting acquisition in late 2003. In April 2009, WFFT launched the market’s first primetime late local news broadcast. In the first two years of their news operation, they were nominated for two Emmys and in 2010 received a “Best Newscast” from “The Society of Professional Journalists.” In August 2011, the station re-launched as WFFT Local. Through a significant capital investment, WFFT Local is the first station in the market to broadcast local news and special programming in High Definition. Additionally, the launch of WFFT Local created the expansion of their award winning late news to a full hour. Itlso created the opportunity to launch an hour of news on Saturday and Sunday, thus 7 nights a week! This Makes WFFT the area’s only primetime hour-long, 7 night a week newscast, broadcast in High Definition. WFFT’s syndicated programming includes Big Bang Theory, Two and Half Men, How I Met your Mother, The Office, The Insider, Extra! And TMZ. WFFT Local also broadcasts syndicated and commercial content in High Definition
