Nexstar Broadcasting Appoints Kevin Harlan To Vice President And General Manager Of Peoria-Bloomington, Illinois Television And Digital Operations

Accomplished Industry Executive with Over 30 years of Local Broadcasting Experience Returns to Nexstar to Lead WMBD-TV and CentralIllinoisProud.com

PEORIA, Illinois and IRVING, Texas (August 12, 2015) – Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Kevin Harlan has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of WMBD-TV (CBS), BMBD (Bounce), and the stations’ associated digital services, including community web portal CentralIllinoisProud.com serving the Peoria-Bloomington, Illinois (DMA #117). In his new role, he will also oversee Nexstar’s relationship with Cunningham Broadcasting Corporation’s WYZZ-TV (FOX), (through an outsourcing agreement). Mr. Harlan will assume his new responsibilities immediately and report to Bill Sally, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Kevin Harlan’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans over three decades, including four years serving as Vice President and General Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting’s Peoria television and digital operations from 2002 to 2006. During his tenure in Peoria, Mr. Harlan increased community presence, news production and revenue share of market. Under his leadership, the sales team executed highly effective marketing initiatives that significantly increased customer retention and new local direct business partnerships by implementing effective marketing strategies and solutions for local and national advertisers. In addition, he was deeply invested in the local community; serving as a board member of The Easter Seals, The United Way, The Peoria Symphony and the Illinois Broadcasters Association.

Mr. Harlan brings to his new role experience in managing broadcast operations across small and mid-size markets. He rejoins Nexstar from Huntington Broadcast Management Group, a company that provided television broadcast consulting and operational services, which he co-founded in 2013. Prior to his term with Huntington, Mr. Harlan was General Manager of KCOY-TV (CBS) and KKFX-TV (FOX) and he was also given additional responsibilities for Cowles California Media including sales oversight of their CBS, FOX, Telemundo and CW affiliates in Monterey, CA. Prior to that, Mr. Harlan served as the VP/GM of WKOW in Madison, WI. Throughout his professional broadcast career, he has held various local and national broadcast sales management positions in St. Louis, MO, Nashville, TN and Buffalo, NY.

Mr. Harlan and his wife, Mary Kaye, have a daughter Claire, who is a student at Utah State University and they look forward to immediately relocating to Peoria.
