Nexstar Broadcasting Names Lisa Howfield Vice President And General Manager Of Las Vegas Television And Digital Operations

LAS VEGAS, Nevada and IRVING, Texas (August 10, 2015) – Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Lisa Howfield has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of KLAS-TV (CBS) and its associated digital services, including Me-TV and Movies! and community web portal LasVegasNow.com serving the Las Vegas, NV market (DMA #41). The appointment is effective immediately and Ms. Howfield will report to Brian Jones, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Lisa Howfield replaces Emily Neilson who is retiring after 35 years at the station, including 12 years of service as KLAS-TV’s General Manager.

Lisa’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans over two decades and she brings a comprehensive background in local news production, programming, digital services, new business development, inventory control and regional sales to her new role. Prior to joining Nexstar, Ms. Howfield was with KSNV-TV (NBC) in Las Vegas where she consistently delivered excellence in client service and sales performance, ascending from her initial role to positions of increased responsibility serving as Account Executive, General Sales Manager and VP / General Manager before being promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of Intermountain West Communications. As COO she managed a staff of approximately 500 employees across nine stations until a top ten broadcast operator acquired the company in November 2014.

As General Manager of KSNV-TV, Ms. Howfield developed and led highly effective teams that executed creative sales, marketing and digital media strategies resulting in local and national revenue share dominance while significantly increasing customer retention and new local direct business partnerships. In addition, to address the needs of the local Las Vegas community, she successfully launched new and compelling local news programming and community-focused content, while also optimizing the stations’ digital platforms to expand audience reach and engagement. During her tenure, she consistently exceeded economic goals by creating new revenue streams and increasing the station’s share of viewership. Notably, KSNV-TV became a leading innovator in digital broadcast as it was first station in the country to create a test for the nationwide transition to digital.

Ms. Howfield earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Communications from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She was awarded the 2008 “Broadcasting & Cable” General Manager of the Year as well as the 2008 Working Mother’s Advocate Award. She is the co-author of “Managing Electronic Media.”

She serves as an Executive Board Member of the Nevada Broadcasters Association, a Board Member of the Association for Women in Communications and is a member of Women in Film. Ms. Howfield also serves on the advisory board of the Salvation Army and the Henderson Space and Science Center.
