Nexstar Broadcasting Promotes Arika Zink to Vice President and General Manager Of Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia Television and Digital Operations

ROANOKE, Virginia and IRVING, Texas (July 30, 2015) – Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Arika L. Zink has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of WFXR-TV (FOX) and WWCW-TV (CW) serving the Roanoke / Lynchburg / Blacksburg, VA DMA (#67) and the stations’ associated digital services including VirginiaFirst.com. Since 2012, Ms. Zink has served as Vice President and General Manager of the Nexstar-owned ABC affiliate, WEHT-TV, and had oversight of the CW affiliate, WTVW-TV (through a shared services agreement with Mission Broadcasting) serving the Evansville, IN (DMA #103), and the stations’ associated digital services including Tristatehomepage.com. Ms. Zink will assume her new responsibilities on August 6th and will report to Timothy Busch, Co-Chief Operating Officer of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Arika Zink has nearly three decades of combined broadcast television and sales management experience. During her tenure in Evansville, Ms. Zink developed and led highly effective teams and implemented sales, marketing and digital media initiatives that resulted in increased market share and profitability at both stations. In addition to launching additional local content and news programming, in 2013 she directed the successful CW affiliation launch on WTVW-TV that enhanced and expanded the network content and entertainment programming options provided to local viewers.

From 2009 to 2011, Ms. Zink served as VP and General Manager of Four Points’ West Palm Beach, FL television operations including WTVX-TV (CW), WTCN-CA (MyNetworkTV), WWHB-CA (Azteca América), LATV and the stations’ associated digital services. Under her leadership, to address the needs of both the English and Spanish-speaking communities in West Pam Beach, she expanded the stations’ local sports and entertainment programming while consistently delivering exceptional service to local viewers and advertisers.

Throughout her Nexstar career, Ms. Zink has successfully exceeded economic goals while elevating the level of service provided to the local community and increasing viewer engagement and interaction the Company’s broadcast and digital platforms. The stations she has managed have won numerous awards for excellence in local news production and service including a National Murrow, five Regional Murrows, the CW (APEX) Affiliate Partner in Excellence, Indiana Broadcasters Association Television Station of the Year (2014), Indiana Associated Press Most Outstanding News Operation (2014), among others.

Prior to joining Nexstar, Ms. Zink served as the Corporate Director of Broadcast Operations for Hearst-Argyle Television. Prior to that, she held broadcast sales and management positions in South Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia and began her television career in 1986.

A native of West Virginia, Arika graduated from West Virginia University’s Peerly Isaac Reed School of Journalism. Ms. Zink currently serves on the boards of The Indiana Broadcasters Association, Easter Seals of Southwest Indiana, Evansville American Red Cross, Evansville Sports Corporation and Evansville Junior Achievement. She has previously served on various boards and commissions associated with child safety, youth, local business development and the broadcasting industry.

Ms. Zink and her husband, Rod, are the proud parents of a first year medical student attending University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville. Arika and Rod are both looking forward to immediately relocating to the Roanoke community.
