Nexstar Media Group and NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth Partner to Host Live “Lone Star New Year’s Eve: Countdown To 2018” Television Special and Reunion Tower Fireworks Spectacular
NEW YEAR’S EVE PROGRAMMING SPECIAL FEATURING LIVE MUSIC, SPECIAL GUESTS AND MORE TO BROADCAST IN 20 MARKETS
FORT WORTH, IRVING and DALLAS, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that it is partnering with NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth (KXAS-TV), an NBC-owned station, to host and broadcast a live New Year’s Eve television special, Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2018, on Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. CST. NBC 5 and stations owned by Nexstar, Mission Broadcasting, Inc. and White Knight Broadcasting, Inc. across 20 markets throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri, reaching nearly eight million U.S. households will ring in 2018 with the hour-long special. Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2018 will feature musical performances from local headliners, a Central Time Zone countdown and the AT&T Streaming Lights at Reunion Tower fireworks spectacular, presented by Reunion Tower, Hunt Realty and AT&T.
The New Year’s Eve special will broadcast live from the rooftop of Saint Rocco’s New York Italian restaurant at Trinity Groves, overlooking downtown Dallas beginning at 11:30 p.m. CST. There, former NFL pro-football player and news anchor D.J. Williams of KARK-TV in Little Rock will join award-winning NBC 5 news anchors Kristin Dickerson and Kris Gutierrez to host the event and ring-in the New Year alongside hundreds of partygoers. Viewers and VIP party guests will celebrate the night away with music from Dallas’ favorite alternative pop/rock group, Jackopierce who will be performing live from the rooftop at Saint Rocco’s.
In addition, meteorologist David Yeomans of KXAN-TV in Austin, will check-in with the team regularly with live reporting from a second location at Reunion Tower where crews will be putting the finishing touches on the fireworks show. NBC 5 and Nexstar Media Group are the official media partners of the AT&T Streaming Lights at Reunion Tower fireworks spectacular and will broadcast the event live beginning at midnight CST as the Dallas city skyline lights up with more than 4,000 pyrotechnic special effects ignited from various levels of Reunion Tower.
