Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased KUCW-TV, a CW affiliate, from Newport Broadcasting on December 3, 2012. Utah’s CW30 (KUCW) is the CW television affiliate serving the Salt Lake City television market. CW30 also provides Utahns daily local news, airing ABC4 Good Morning Utah M-F 6-8AM and ABC4News at 7pm M-F 7-8PM and 780 hours of locally produced programming annually.  CW30 is the home to all of CW’s top programs, including; Supergirl, Batgirl, The Flash, Penn & Teller, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Riverdale, and Supernatural. Utah’s CW 30 prime time programming consistently ranks among the top affiliates in the country in the network’s W18-34 demo.  In addition, CW30 has strongest comedy programming available, including; The Big Bang Theory, Last Man Standing, 2 ½ Men, Mom, Schitt’s Creek, Goldberg’s and Black-ish, as well as The Doctors, Tamron Hall, Wendy Williams and Drew Barrymore Show.  Combined with Nexstar’s ABC4/KTVX, and not counting the special ABC4 News programming and Town Halls ABC4 News produces each year, the two stations air over 3120 hours of locally produced programming annually.

Salt Lake City, UT is in the 27th largest DMA in the United States, with a population of approximately 3,282,115 and 1,173,870 television households, as reported by Nielsen Media.

Cable/ADS penetration in the market is estimated to be 32% Cable, and 43% ADS. Utah has the YOUNGEST median age in the country (30.5 years) with the next youngest states’ median age being Alaska and District of Columbia, with a median age of 33.9 years and the U.S. median age 37.7. Utah also has the highest HH size (3.12) in the U.S. (2.64), with 60.6% of HH headed by married couple’s vs U.S. average of 48.1%. Utah has the number 2 state economy in the U.S., according to a report published in 2018 by WalletHub and has the #2 highest median annual household income. Utah is also one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in the country, with three cities – Provo, Ogden, and Salt Lake City – among the top 15 in the country with the highest concentration of STEM sector employment, and the New Yorker declared the Beehive State “the next Silicon Valley”. With software company Novell leading the charge, Utah has begun attracting major players like digital storage company EMC Corp. and eBay, with both Provo and SLC now home to Google Fiber.
