STATION PROFILE

Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased KLAS-TV, a CBS affiliate, from Landmark Media Enterprises on February 13, 2015. Southern Nevada’s first television licensee, KLAS has a long and storied history, serving the market for more than 60 years. Originally owned by a group of local businessmen, the station was owned for a time by business mogul Howard Hughes. A home he utilized during his early visits to Las Vegas still stands on the station’s grounds.

Its news team, the most honored in the state, is dedicated to providing southern Nevada with in-depth, hard-hitting journalism both on-air and on-line. Honors include some of broadcast journalism’s most-prestigious awards, with multiple Emmys, two Peabody Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, the national Society of Professional Journalists: Sigma Delta Chi Award and the duPont-Columbia award.

An innovator in both broadcast and digital arenas, KLAS was the market’s first station to go HD, and has the market’s leading television station website. It enjoys the market’s largest Facebook following, and has received numerous awards for outstanding digital content.

KLAS is Las Vegas’s most-watched station, and southern Nevada’s first choice for news. The station also provides digital networks MeTV and Movies! to the community.
