Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased KVEO-TV, a NBC affiliate, from Communications Corporation of America on January 2, 2015. Throughout its history KVEO-TV Channel 23 has always held a strong commitment to the communities it serves. Today, that commitment is stronger than ever servicing the viewers of Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen, Weslaco and all the cities in the RGV, with the best possible programming, information and local news coverage. KVEO has always been a leader in new technology in the Rio Grande Valley market. When local news returned on October 1, 2007, under the NewsCenter 23 branding, the newscasts were produced in HD, making KVEO the first station in the RGV to broadcast in HD both network and syndicated programming. KVEO’s Production Department also produces and airs high definition advertising commercials for their clients. KVEO’s syndicated programming includes The Doctors, Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray and The Big Bang Theory.

The designated market area covers four regions, Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy County and is located at the southernmost tip of Texas bordering Mexico. The Rio Grande Valley will soon be the home for the new University of Texas Rio Grande Valley bringing higher education in the fields of education, health, biomedical research and technology to the area. The Valley will be the home for the construction of a new Space X launchpad with space flights scheduled in 2017 bringing additional international commerce to the local Rio Grande Valley market.
