Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased WFFF, a FOX affiliate, from Smith Broadcasting on March 1, 2013. WFFF is the market's youngest station, signing on August 31, 1997. The station is known in the market as Local 44 and broadcasts in Vermont, Northern New York, and New Hampshire's Grafton and Sullivan counties. It also has significant viewership in Montreal, Quebec. WFFF became the first station to broadcast a local 10pm newscast with the launching of FOX 44 Local News at 10pm in December 2007. It was also the market's first HD newscast.
