WPNY-LP, a my network TV affiliate, was acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting in late 2003 as part of the Quorum acquisition. WPNY is operated by WFXV, the Fox station in the market. During the spring of 2004, Mission Broadcasting acquired WUTR, an ABC affiliate also located in Utica, and subsequently entered into various service agreements with Nexstar Broadcasting station WFXV. The combined resources of WFXV, WPNY-LP, and WUTR provide operating efficiencies for all three stations and a viable alternative for area advertisers. WPNY’s syndicated programming includes Scrubs, George Lopez, According to Jim, Judge Hatchett and Judge Mathis. The stations improved revenue share in 2007 by developing sales projects and utilizing improved inventory management.
