Accomplished Industry Executive to Oversee Television and Digital Media Local Content Initiatives Company-wide
IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST) announced today that Susan Tully has been appointed Senior Vice President of Local Content Development, a newly created position at the Company. The appointment reflects Nexstar’s expanding scale and strategy to appoint accomplished broadcast and digital media leaders to oversee the development of its innovative multi-platform local news and community-focused content on a group-wide, regional and local basis, while strengthening its service to viewers, clients, advertisers and brands. The appointment is effective immediately and Ms. Tully will report to Blake Russell, Executive Vice President, Station Operations and Content Development of Nexstar Media Group.
In her new role, Ms. Tully will oversee the corporate content development team and will be responsible for managing the development and execution of the Company’s strategic local content and viewer engagement initiatives across its broadcast and digital operations in 100 U.S. markets. She will also be responsible for advancing the Company’s multi-platform approach for its local news programming and content with a strong emphasis on “digital first,” as well as initiatives focused on brand development, social media engagement, ratings leadership and excellence in viewer and client experience and service. Ms. Tully will work across the Nexstar organization to develop local programming and content strategies, refine production standards and best practices, develop creative collaborations and content partnerships, and establish corporate and regional business objectives.
An accomplished local media executive, Susan Tully brings over 30 years of experience to her new role, with expertise in local news programming and production, digital and social media integration, content monetization, strategic planning and brand positioning across multiple media platforms. Prior to joining Nexstar, Ms. Tully was with NBC Owned Television Stations for 28 years where she most recently served as President and General Manager of WVIT-TV (NBC) and WRDM-TV (Telemundo) in Hartford, CT (DMA #33). During her tenure, she directed the successful repositioning and expansion of the stations’ news programming, managing all aspects of local branding, creative development, news studio/set construction and talent recruitment. In addition, she improved WRDM-TV’s Spanish-language coverage, created unique content partnerships with local sports franchises and identified new opportunities to differentiate the stations from the market competition.
Prior to that, Ms. Tully served as Vice President and News Director of KXAS-TV in Dallas, TX (DMA #5), where she undertook the dual responsibilities of leading the NBC Owned Television Stations’ news director communications and group meetings and coordinating the organization-wide coverage of the Olympic Games. While at KXAS-TV, Ms. Tully played a critical role in managing the construction of the station’s new broadcast facility, built an award-winning Investigative Team and developed innovative content strategies, including a unique content partnership with the Dallas Morning News. Earlier in her career at NBC, she was the Assistant News Director at WCAU-TV in Philadelphia and Managing Editor of KNSD-TV in San Diego. Prior to NBC, she served in news production and reporting roles in various Texas markets.

Ms. Tully obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Radio, Television and Film from Sam Houston State University in 1981. She recently served on the Connecticut Broadcasters Association Board of Directors. Ms. Tully was deeply involved in the local Hartford community, recently serving on the Board of Directors on behalf of a number of organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, the United Way and the American Red Cross of Connecticut.
