Nexstar’s California Television Stations To Host Exclusive Live Debate Between Candidates for California Governor

Debate Will Originate from KRON4 Studios in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m.

San Francisco, CA (March 12, 2026)—Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), today announced that its television stations serving California will carry an exclusive live multi-market telecast of a debate between the leading candidates in the race for California Governor. The debate will be broadcast statewide on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 7 p.m. PT originating from the studios of KRON4 in San Francisco.

“Debate Night in California: The Race for Governor” will be moderated by Nikki Laurenzo, host of “Inside California Politics,” and news anchor at Fox40 in Sacramento, and Frank Buckley, veteran morning news anchor at KTLA5 in Los Angeles.

Candidates earning at least 5% support in Nexstar’s March statewide poll and meeting Nexstar’s other criteria for participation will get an invite to be on stage answering questions aired on six Nexstar television stations across the state, including KRON4 in San Francisco, KTLA5 in Los Angeles, Fox5/KUSI in San Diego, Fox40 in Sacramento, KGET17 in Bakersfield, and KSEE24/CBS47 in Fresno. Candidates who have met the polling threshold and other criteria for participation include: Eric Swalwell (D), Steve Hilton (R), Chad Bianco (R), Tom Steyer (D), and Katie Porter (D). As of this announcement, all candidates with the exception of Katie Porter have accepted Nexstar’s invitation to appear.

The debate will also be streamed live on Nexstar’s digital platforms—with excerpts airing nationwide on Nexstar’s leading digital platform for political news and analysis, The Hill, and cable news network NewsNation.  A Spanish language translation of the debate also will be available.
