Nexstar Broadcasting Names J.R. Jackson Vice President and General Manager of Fresno, California, Broadcast and Digital Operations

Veteran Media Executive Returns to the Central Valley to Lead KSEE-TV (NBC), KGPE-TV (CBS) and


FRESNO, California and IRVING, Texas — Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., has named J.R. Jackson  Vice President and General Manager of KSEE-TV (NBC), KGPE-TV (CBS) and  associated mobile / digital operations, including, serving  Fresno, CA  (DMA #55). Mr. Jackson replaces Matthew Rosenfeld who was recently promoted to Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting.  Mr. Jackson will relocate to Fresno and assume his new responsibilities immediately.  He will report to Mr. Rosenfeld.

He joins Nexstar from KVAL-TV (CBS) and KMTR-TV (NBC/CW) in Eugene, OR (DMA #117) where he served as Vice President and General Manager. The appointment is a homecoming for Mr. Jackson, who worked for nearly a decade in Fresno, serving as General Sales Manager at KMPH-TV (FOX) and KFRE-TV (CW).  Prior to living in Central Valley, he served as General Sales Manager for KOVR-TV (CBS) in Sacramento, CA (DMA #20).  During his California broadcasting tenure, Mr. Jackson consistently exceeded revenue results, while developing non-traditional revenue streams and unparalleled marketing opportunities that produced successful results for advertising clients.

Mr. Jackson has extensive executive broadcast experience in major television markets throughout the country, with expertise in station and sales management, client and revenue development, and local programming and content creation across multiple media platforms. During his tenure, he led highly-effective operating teams and implemented sales, marketing and digital media initiatives that drove increased revenues.  Mr. Jackson held a variety of sales positions of increasing responsibility earlier in his career, serving as a local sales manager at KPIX-TV in San Francisco, CA (DMA #6), and later, as Director of Sales on behalf of CBS Radio (now Entercom) stations in Dallas, TX (DMA #5).

Mr. Jackson has served a multitude of community organizations everywhere he has lived.  He helped facilitate several St. Jude dream home giveaways both in Sacramento and Fresno, raising close to $10 million. Most recently, he worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Food for Lane County, Veteran Honor Flight and the Salvation Army in Eugene, OR.  He looks forward to continuing KSEE24 and KGPE’s long tradition of serving local communities across California’s Central Valley in his new role.

Mr. Jackson attended Yuba College in his hometown of Yuba City, California, and has lived in California for the majority of the last 40 years.
