30 Days of Giving
A month-long celebration created to recognize and support nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint.

“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each.
Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.”

The Opry Heritage Foundation of Oklahoma transforms lives through music. Its programs include the Granville Community Music School, which provides high‑quality music instruction to children ages 9–18 from low‑income families for just fifty cents per lesson; Guitars for Vets, a weekly guitar program for veterans; and the Oklahoma Opry, a longstanding platform for local artists.

Spartanburg Humane Society offers a variety of programs and services for both pets and pet owners. Their mission remains focused on providing excellent shelter and care to homeless animals in need, the Spartanburg Humane Society has evolved to develop proactive strategies aimed at combating the root causes of substandard animal care and thousands of unwanted animals. The Humane Society has been in service to Spartanburg County since 1964.

Isaiah 117 House in Knox, IN, provides physical and emotional support for children who are removed from their homes for safety concerns. While child welfare staff focus on paperwork and finding the right placement, volunteers help with clean clothes, comforting blankets, toys, and smiles in a warm, safe home.

The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. The Alzheimer’s Association Capital of Texas Chapter, located in southwest Austin, supports diagnosed individuals, their families and caregivers, and the professionals who care for them. They offer support groups, educational programs, individualized planning provided by master’s-level clinicians, and community resource lists.

The Birmingham Service League is committed to compassionately serving individuals in the Birmingham community through needs-based philanthropic programs funded in part by its Encore Thrift Shop. Proceeds benefit two signature initiatives serving children in need. Clothes for Class provides K–5 in 50 elementary schools and 18 middle schools appropriate school attire, warm hoodies, including socks and underwear, a personal hygiene kit, and a book from the Kids’ Book Nook. Through Clothes for Class Shoppers, up to 25 students receive up to $150 each so they can select their own clothing spending.

Kids Helping Kids Sacramento is run entirely by junior and senior high school students. Through fundraising events and community initiatives, the students create real, lasting impact to serve children from all different backgrounds struggling with many different situations.
For the past 12 years, they have supported children battling pediatric cancer, along with their families, by providing financial assistance for medical expenses, travel, and other treatment-related costs. To date, they have donated over $230,000 to families affected by pediatric cancer.

Ribbon of Hope Foundation, established in 2003 by a small group of breast cancer survivors, is dedicated to serving as a financial, informational, and emotional resource for individuals living with breast cancer in Northeastern Wisconsin.
Through generous community support, including an annual golf outing, third party fundraising events, and individual and corporate contributions, Ribbon of Hope has granted over $4.7 million in support to more than 6,800 individuals living or receiving treatment in Brown or Kewaunee County. Depending on the nature of the patient’s diagnosis and financial need, grant recipients typically use the funds to cover medical bills, mediations, living expenses, wigs, gas/transportation and prostheses/bras.

The Honor Foundation (THF) is a 3-month, executive education program that provides the tools and experiences necessary to help members of the U.S. Special Operations Forces transition from a 25 to 30-year career in a high-stress, specialized environment to civilian life as the next generation of corporate and community leaders.
The program helps veterans navigate the anxiety of leaving the military, with a focus on keeping local talent within the community. Every step is dedicated to preparing the participating men and women to continue to realize their maximum potential during and after their service career. The program has over 3,300 graduates to date and is funded entirely by private donations and operates at no cost to THF Fellows.

Energy Services Inc. is a people-focused organization that supports households facing critical energy needs, helping limited-income families prevent or manage energy-related emergencies while promoting long-term self-sufficiency. ESI and the Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool Fund launched the Heat and Housing for Heroes campaign to help U.S. miliary veterans avoid energy-related emergencies by keeping heat and power on, while connecting them to additional state, county, and veteran resources.

Mercy Chefs provides restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders during disasters and emergencies, and beyond crisis response, operates community kitchens and outreach programs to serve food-insecure populations nationwide. Mercy Chefs’ Feed 757 initiative in Hampton Roads, VA distributes backpacks filled with nutritious food and essential supplies at multiple sites, aiming to reach 3,000 families at each site.

Kenzi’s Causes is a Colorado nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income children and families with the tools and resources they need to thrive. Founded in 2007 by Jessica Bachus after the stillbirth of her daughter, Kenzi, the organization began by providing Christmas gifts to children in need. What started as a small act of kindness has grown into a statewide effort, distributing more than 100,000 toys, school supplies, books, and essentials.

Lanakila Pacific is a family of programs and social enterprises including Kupuna Wellness, which supports seniors through free classes that blend exercise, games, excursions, and shared nutritious meals, and its Teaching & Learning Centers, where adults with cognitive, social, or physical disabilities build essential life and social skills and engage in community activities that strengthen independence and inclusion. The Lanakila Pacific Meals on Wheels program is Oahu’s largest and only island-wide meal delivery service for schools, adult day cares, and seniors.

Life By Music’s mission is to make music a source of hope and ensure access for those in need.

GenerationNation is dedicated to developing the next generation of civic leaders by equipping K–12 students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to actively engage in their communities. Through a combination of classroom learning and real-world programs, students gain firsthand understanding of how government works, participate in decision-making, and learn to evaluate civic information. GenerationNation provides year-round programs including youth councils and mock elections that build civic literacy and leadership skills.

The Capital Gallery operates a full-service fine art gallery dedicated to celebrating the history, art, and culture of North Dakota and the Northern Plains. Support from Capital Gallery Society patrons and the North Dakota Council on the Arts help expand access to the arts, increase artist visibility, and create meaningful cultural experiences that connect and enrich the community.

The Foodbank in Dayton, OH works to eliminate hunger and its root causes by serving as the central food distribution hub for the Miami Valley. For more than 50 years, it has supplied food to a network of 122 nonprofit partners, including pantries, shelters, and community programs. In 2025 alone, The Foodbank distributed more than 17 million pounds of food. The Foodbank also operates direct service programs like The Mobile Pantry, The Commodity Supplemental Food Program, The Good-To-Go-Backpack Program, and the Food Script Program to reach underserved populations.

Bagel Rescue supports hunger relief and reduces food waste by connecting restaurants with excess food, specifically bagels and baked goods, to neighbors in need. Through donations from local bakeries, volunteers deliver bagels to food pantries, shelters, feeding programs, and community outreach efforts.
The organization serves more than 60 neighborhoods in 12 counties in the Atlanta metro area and has expanded into new cities across the Southeast including Alexandria, VA, Athens and Brunswick, GA, Nashville, TN, Raleigh, NC, and as far west as Portland, OR.

Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue in Warwick, RI, is a rescue, shelter, and medical facility that provides cats and kittens saved from the streets with complete veterinary exams, spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations, parasite treatments, microchips, and more. Founded in 2017, Scruffy Paws works with a statewide network of animal control agencies, shelters, veterinarians, and volunteers. The organization often treats animals with complex medical needs and coordinates large-scale rescue efforts, including stray cat colonies and in cases of hoarding.

Veteran Overland Foundation (V/O) has supported military veterans through outdoor and overland activities and helped address many of the challenges veterans face, including PTSD, social isolation, and the transition to civilian life post deployment. V/O fulfills its mission by leading multi-day overlanding trips, traveling “over land,” while taking all necessary supplies for the journey. Previous overlanding trips have taken participants through Moab, Idaho, Colorado, and Baja Mexico. Based in Portland, OR, V/O primarily serves veterans in the Pacific Northwest and is open to combat and disabled veterans, and their families.

The Mary Stowe Boyd Robotic Pets for Veterans program provides a robotic companion dog or cat to veterans living with dementia across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. These special robotic pets respond just like real pets through sight, sound, and touch, can be with each veteran around the clock, and are clinically proven to provide joy, comfort, interactive companionship to seniors, and peace of mind to their families and caregivers.

Irving Cares supports Irving residents with immediate basic needs, as well as support to build a brighter future. Services include rent and utility assistance, GED and ESL programs, job training, and skills certification. Eligible individuals and families may receive emergency assistance with housing or utility payments, transportation, or prescriptions, while their food pantry provides nutritious groceries.
Irving Cares works alongside clients and community partners to create pathways toward self-sufficiency for Irving residents in need and maximize overall impact.

Purple Playas Foundation provides financial assistance and social-emotional support to families of children with chronic illnesses. The organization partners with hospitals, clinics, and community agencies to deliver critical resources, including funding for specialized camps, food and gas assistance for treatment travel, hospital gaming systems, and durable medical equipment not covered elsewhere. The organization also host family-focused events that foster connection and support. Purple Playas invests in the future of pediatric care by supporting fellowships and scholarships in high-need specialties facing critical shortages, beginning with pediatric rheumatology.

The River Valley Regional Food Bank in Fort Smith, AR, fights hunger in the River Valley by collecting, storing, and distributing food to area families in need. With 1 in 5 Arkansans and 16.6% of River Valley residents in the region experiencing food insecurity, the organization supports more than 140 local pantries and provides food to nearly 100,000 people a month. The Food Bank also assists residents in Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Polk, Scott, Sebastian and Yell counties with enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is the leading national non-profit dedicated to building and delivering beds to children in need aged 3-17. The Grand Junction chapter started in October 2022 with a group of high school students building beds in their Geometry in Construction class.
Since that time, SHP Grand Junction has delivered more than 400 beds to children in Mesa County, complete with bedding, a pillow, and a twin mattress. They are now focused on raising money, building and delivering beds for Grand Junction, Clifton, Palisade, Fruita, Loma, Mack, Whitewater, Collbran, Mesa, and Molina.

Vanderbilt Burn Center’s Camp Hope offers a free week of physical and emotional healing for children ages 6 to 16 who have suffered burn injuries. Children enjoy some of their favorite summer activities such as swimming, crafts, and nature hikes with others who have similar experiences and challenges. Volunteers include medical professionals from Vanderbilt, adult burn survivors, local firefighters, and emergency medical services personnel.

The Arkansas Chapter of Star Legacy Foundation works to prevent stillbirth and infant loss through research, education, awareness, and compassionate support for grieving families. It supports families in Little Rock and the surrounding areas with counseling resources and support tools, including remembrance photography and funeral information, and connects family members with local and virtual support groups. It also assists with stillbirth documentation such as a Certificate of Stillbirth or a Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth. The organization advocates for legislation like paid family leave to include a stillbirth, insurance coverage for fetal autopsies, standardized post-stillbirth care, and provides evidence-based continuing education for medical professionals.

Urban Baby Beginnings (UBB) is committed to ensuring every woman of childbearing age has access to high-quality, compassionate, and culturally relevant maternal care. Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s Savannah chapter is dedicated to building and delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need. The organization’s serves families in Savannah, GA, and parts of Garden City within Chatham County, where an estimated 9,000 children sleep on the floor every night. As of May 2026, the chapter has delivered 113 beds, each complete with bedding, a pillow, and a twin mattress.

Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley is dedicated to helping homeless families receive access to safe and affordable housing, as well as achieve economic stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Services include eviction prevention services, emergency shelter for up to 30 families, a transitional housing program, financial coaching, job training, and aftercare services once families “graduate.” Through its “wraparound break the cycle of poverty” approach, Family Promise consistently sees strong outcomes with over 90% of families maintaining long-term housing stability.

The Buffalo Warriors Hockey organization provides recreational on-ice opportunities to local veterans, using sled hockey and traditional stand-up hockey to support their physical and emotional rehabilitation and improve their quality of life. The organization currently serves more than 150 athletes across its Buffalo Warriors stand-up hockey teams and the Sabres Sled Vets sled hockey team.
Veterans and active-duty military members from across Western New York are welcome to participate regardless of age, ability, or financial circumstances. The Buffalo Warriors provide gear for new players, offer most programs at no cost, and coach veterans on everything from basic skating to hockey fundamentals. It also helps offset the cost of equipment, league and tournament fees, and travel costs for its members as they compete in league play and tournaments around the country.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston (RMHC Charleston) provides a “home away from home” for families traveling to Charleston, SC, to access life-saving medical care for their children. The organization helps keep families together by offering comfortable beds, warm meals, and compassionate support. Families have access to a fully stocked kitchen, laundry facilities, a playroom for children ages 8 and under, Wi-Fi, and 24/7 security, as well as Gardy, the House dog. All services are provided at no cost to families, easing both the emotional and financial burden during a difficult time.
The Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s grant will go towards RMHC Charleston’s Expanding Hope project, which aims to expand the House with 34 additional bedrooms, two elevators large enough to accommodate a stretcher, a classroom for siblings attending class, communal spaces, and separate play areas for toddlers, youth and teens.

The Woodbury County Conservation Foundation, in far west-central Iowa along the Missouri River, manages 19 parks, natural areas, and more than 5,000 acres of undeveloped wildlife areas, several day use areas and river accesses. It protects natural resources and promotes environmental education and conservation to save the integrity of the Loess Hills prairies.
Its foundation provides scholarships for school children attending the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center for field trips and camps, funds Nature Center programs, special events, exhibits and trail enhancements, enhances prairie management to save the integrity of the Loess Hills prairies, and other county parks and natural resources.

The Boys and Girls Club of Bay County has provided a safe, reliable place for local youth to go to during after-school and out-of-school hours. The Club supports children and teens through services including mental health and substance abuse support, academic enrichment in ELA and STEM, health & wellness education, career preparation, financial literacy, leadership development focused on character and integrity.

Voices Against Cancer (VAC) raises funds and awareness for pediatrics, pediatric cancer, and pediatric cancer research. Its family assistance program provides financial help in the form of gift cards for gas, groceries, medical items not covered by insurance, and lodging.
VAC also provides a community of guidance and support for the entire family: the patients, the siblings who may experience emotional and behavioral challenges, and the parents who could lose some of their household income due to treatment-related work disruptions or the need to leave their jobs to care for their child.

The Marion County Humane Society (MCHS) in West Virginia is a no-kill animal welfare organization serving over 56,000 residents and providing quality care for more than 5,000 animals each year. For more than 80 years, MCHS has served as a safe haven for abandoned animals. While caring for all Marion County strays is a priority, the organization accepts surrendered animals and does not euthanize for space. MCHS provides financial assistance to spay or neuter a pet and offers K-12 students education in animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Kids with Courage (KWC) supports children and their families following a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis by easing fear and isolation, and providing immediate emotional support, practical tools, guidance, and encouragement as they adjust to life with the condition. To help families navigate those overwhelming early moments, KWC created its Brave Box Program. In partnership with children’s hospitals and their medical teams, Brave Boxes are delivered to newly diagnosed children and their families, often within 24 hours of diagnosis. Each box is designed to provide comfort, support, and strength.

Animal Humane New Mexico (AHNM) is the state’s leading animal welfare organization helping more than 10,000 at-risk, homeless dogs and cats each year. Since 2010, it has re-homed 100% of healthy pets in its care through services like sheltering, adoption, humane education, and veterinary services.
AHNM also provides affordable services for income-qualified clients, such as vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter clinics. It also offers behavior support and solutions, community education on animal welfare, and helps pet owners find pet-friendly housing by compiling information from local rental properties regarding pet policies, fees, and restrictions. To help keep pets in their homes, the organization distributes more than 420,000 free pet meals annually to families.

Helping Other People Everyday (H.O.P.E.) offers a wide array of programs that provide essential support for families and individuals in need. Through its thrift store, which helps fund its programs, H.O.P.E. serves those facing homelessness and food insecurity, as well as survivors of natural disasters, domestic violence, and home fires, with food, clothing, household items, diapers, and emergency supplies.
H.O.P.E.’s Miscellaneous Voucher Program enables teachers and other education professionals to receive clothing and essential items for their classrooms or students, while its Princess Project provides prom dresses and tuxedos to 90–100 students each year. The Backpack Program provides 150 students from 10 local schools eight meals for the weekend and snacks for the week. Plus, for the first weeks of school, elementary and high school students who participate in the Backpack Program also receive new or gently used school supplies. H.O.P.E. has distributed more than 25,000 food-filled backpacks to children experiencing food insecurity.

Courage Connection provides advocacy, education, and comprehensive support services to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence. All services are free and confidential, including a 24/7 hotline (217-384-4390 or 877-384-4390), legal advocacy, and therapy and counseling for individuals, families, and groups. The organization also offers shelter and housing assistance, serving residents across Champaign, Douglas, Ford, and Piatt counties in Illinois.

CURE GABA-A helps families battling GABA-A and B receptor (GABAAR) disorders, a rare and life-threatening category of genetic epilepsies. It partners with world-renowned scientists to speed up the development of life-saving gene therapies for children with epilepsy, developmental delays, schizophrenia, addiction, and other brain disorders linked to GABAAR dysfunction.
CURE GABA-A is the largest patient-led GABAAR advocacy organization in the world and the leading nonprofit foundation funding GABAAR-targeted research. It also organizes patient communities to participate in clinical research.

Play It Forward (PIF) provides musical instruments, instruction, and performance opportunities to students in need across the Pacific Northwest. The organization is dedicated to helping children reach their full cognitive and social potential by addressing barriers such as poverty, systemic racism, and historic inequities that often limit access to music education.
PIF also distributes gently used instruments to families, schools, and art and cultural organizations, and partners with local nonprofits, and after-school programs to provide piano and guitar instruction to young musicians.
