Nexstar Media Foundation Announces Honorees for Day Twenty-Seven of “30 Days of Giving” Initiative
Awaken Coffee and WHEAT, Inc. Named as Recipients of $5,000 Grants
Irving, TX (June 27, 2026) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation is making a $5,000 contribution to both Awaken Coffee and WHEAT, Inc. as part of the company’s “30 Days of Giving” initiative, a month-long program recognizing and supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint. Awaken Coffee and WHEAT, Inc., were nominated by the employees at WNCT-TV, the Nexstar television station serving Greenville, NC, and those at WTNH-TV in Hartford, CT, respectively.
“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each. Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.”
Awaken Coffee equips and empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing employment and skill-based training while also fostering inclusion within the Greenville community. Its Brew Crew consists of 14 differently abled individuals serving as baristas, cashiers, stock clerks or in any other position where they may realize their full potential.
Founded in 2018, Awaken Coffee was created to expand opportunities for Greenville’s differently abled community. The organization opened its first location on April 29, 2023, followed by a second site at East Carolina University’s Health Sciences Student Center in February 2025. The expansion enabled the hiring of five additional baristas and strengthened connections with the local medical community.

WHEAT, Inc. provides food, advocacy, and support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across Connecticut. Based on the belief that access to good quality nutritious food is a basic human right and a social justice issue, the organization is a central place where residents in crisis could obtain food.
WHEAT collaborates with local organizations, schools, faith communities, and donors to expand its impact and ensure a consistent supply of nutritious food, personal care items, and other essential goods to thousands of people. In 2025, the pantry served 3,500 families and distributed 350,000 pounds of food. In April 2026 alone, WHEAT served 906 people, distributed more than 30,000 pounds of food and assisted 128 new households.
