Nexstar Broadcasting Names Scot Chastain Vice President and General Manager of Lansing, Michigan Broadcast and Digital Operations
Leading Television and Marketing Executive with over 35 Years of Network and Broadcast Industry Experience to Lead WLNS-TV and WLNS.com
LANSING, Michigan and IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Scot Chastain has been named Vice President and General Manager of CBS affiliate WLNS-TV and associated mobile/digital services, including WLNS.com, serving Lansing, MI (DMA #110). In his new role, he will also oversee Nexstar’s relationship with Shield Media-owned ABC affiliate WLAJ-TV and CW affiliate ELAJ-TV under a joint operating agreement. Mr. Chastain will assume his new responsibilities immediately and report to Theresa Underwood, Senior Vice President of Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.
Scot Chastain brings to his new role at Nexstar over three decades of executive and professional experience across all facets of the network and local broadcast television business including marketing, promotions, production, new business development and a strategic planning across multiple media platforms. Before Nexstar, Mr. Chastain served as Owner and Principal Marketing Consultant for 630 Marketing, where he provided strategic marketing direction and event production consulting services for a variety of business-to-business and business-to-consumer clients in media, among other industries.
Prior to that, Mr. Chastain spent over 20 years working for the NBC Television Network where he held a number of senior level positions during his tenure. In his most recent role, he served as Executive Vice President, Affiliate Marketing and Development where he led a bi-coastal staff responsible for developing and distributing all network marketing and sales marketing content across more than 240 NBC owned and network-affiliated television stations. Earlier in his career at NBC, he served as Senior Vice President of Affiliate and Marketing Development and before that, he held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Affiliate Advertising & Promotion Services department, including Manager, Director and Vice President.
Throughout Mr. Chastain’s career at NBC, he built a record of developing results-driven local marketing solutions while optimizing all platforms to expand audience reach and engagement for stations nationwide. In addition, he created new business opportunities for NBC stations by establishing new promotional and sales partnerships. Most notably, the record of achievements under his leadership earned him a number of company awards for excellence throughout his years of service.
Prior to joining NBC, Scot Chastain served in various staff and management-level roles in marketing, promotions and production at local broadcast stations including WDSU-TV (NBC) in New Orleans, LA; WXII-TV (NBC) in Winston-Salem, NC and KBTX-TV (CBS) in Bryan, TX.

Mr. Chastain earned his Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Texas A&M University located in College Station, TX. He is an active participant in numerous industry-related associations having recently served as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of PromaxBDA and is currently Board Member of the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences. Additionally, he is a former member of the NBC Universal Marketing Council and National Association of Broadcasters Digital TV Transition Committee.
Mr Chastain has received numerous awards and accolades in acknowledgment of his service from prestigious organizations including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Piedmont-Triad Advertising Club of North Carolina, PromaxBDA, Texas Association of Broadcasters and United Press International.
Scot and his wife Jennifer are relocating to Lansing with their two sons Jack and Carson.
