Nexstar Media Group Names Dan Salamone Director Of Local Content Development

Proven Industry Executive Appointed to Newly-Created Position Overseeing Nexstar’s Broadcast and Digital Local Content Initiatives

IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today the promotion of Dan Salamone to Director of Local Content Development, responsible for overseeing the execution and expansion of the Company’s strategic local content and viewer engagement initiatives across its broadcast and digital media operations. Since 2016, Mr. Salamone has been the News Director of Nexstar’s WTEN-TV (ABC) and news10.com, serving the Albany, NY market (DMA #60). The appointment is effective immediately and Mr. Salamone will report to Jerry Walsh, Vice President, Local Content Development of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Mr. Salamone’s promotion reflects Nexstar’s expanding scale and strategy to appoint proven broadcast and digital media leaders to oversee the development of its innovative multi-platform local news and community-focused content on a regional basis, while enhancing its commitment to serve viewers, clients and advertising partners.

In his new role, Mr. Salamone will work across the Nexstar organization and with other corporate personnel, General Managers, News Directors and creative services teams to execute the Company’s strategies focused on brand development, local content leadership and excellence in viewer / client experience and service. In addition, he will be responsible for implementing and monitoring action plans aimed at achieving corporate and regional business objectives, growing ratings and revenue share and improving audience interaction and engagement with Nexstar’s broadcast, digital and social platforms.

With over 30 years of executive experience in news and station management, throughout his career Dan Salamone has consistently raised ratings in the markets he served, while delivering excellence in multi-platform local news programming, production and service. During his tenure as News Director of WTEN-TV, he successfully built a dominant local news operation with a strong local brand and significantly grew ratings and revenue share. Prior to Nexstar, Mr. Salamone served as Executive Producer of WFLD-TV (FOX) in Chicago, IL (DMA #3) where he had editorial oversight of the station’s morning news programming and led teams responsible for creating compelling cross-platform news content. Before Chicago, Mr. Salamone served for ten years as News Director of WOIO-TV (CBS) in Cleveland, OH (DMA #19), where he managed an Emmy Award-winning news operation and one of the country’s most innovative newsrooms.

Earlier in his career, he served in various news and station management roles at KOIN-TV (CBS) in Portland, OR (DMA #21); KRQE-TV (CBS) in Albuquerque, NM (DMA #46); WXYZ-TV (ABC) in Detroit, MI (DMA #14); WJAR-TV (NBC) in Providence, RI (DMA #52) and WGGB-TV (ABC) in Springfield, MA (DMA #116).
