KLAS-TV (CBS) TO HOST 25th ANNUAL “COUNTDOWN TO 2019: LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS” TELEVISION SPECIAL FEATURING LIVE MUSIC, SPECIAL GUESTS AND FIREWORKS

New Year’s Eve Programming Special Will Be Syndicated Across Various Nexstar Markets Reaching Nearly 10 Million U.S. TV Households and Live-Streamed Online at LasVegasNow.com

 LAS VEGAS, Nevada (December 21, 2018) – KLAS-TV, Nexstar Media Group’s CBS affiliate serving Las Vegas DMA (#39), announced today that it will host Countdown to 2019: Live from Las Vegas, a live New Year’s Eve special on Monday, December 31, 2018 from 8:00 p.m. to 12:35 a.m. (PST).  KLAS-TV and Nexstar Media Group stations in 11 other cities across nine states will broadcast the live show, reaching nearly 10 million U.S. households. In addition, local viewers may access a live-stream of Countdown to 2019: Live from Las Vegas as well as exclusive bonus content online at LasVegasNow.com. The four-and-a-half-hour broadcast will ring in 2019 with viewers in Nevada, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Texas, Hawaii and Oregon. KLAS-TV’s award-winning New Year’s Eve program will feature musical performances from Las Vegas headliners, special entertainment, a countdown to midnight across all four-time zones and spectacular fireworks from seven hotel casino rooftops along the Vegas strip.

The New Year’s Eve special will be hosted by KLAS-TV 8 News Anchors Brian Loftus and Kirsten Joyce and will originate at the Hard Rock Café. There, viewers and VIP party guests will ring-in the new year with music from East Side Riot, who will be performing live from the Hard Rock Café on the Las Vegas strip. The exclusive, three-time Emmy Award-winning broadcast will also feature exciting performances and live reporting from multiple locations including the Las Vegas Strip, South Point Hotel and the famous Fremont Street Experience, where more than 300,000 revelers will be ringing-in the New Year 2019 in downtown Las Vegas.

The KLAS-TV New Year’s Eve broadcast is a local tradition that has continued for nearly a quarter of a century and is the marquee annual event on the Las Vegas strip.  For the second consecutive year, the KLAS-TV New Year’s Eve television special will be broadcast across four different time zones including live countdowns from New York (EST), Dallas (CST), Denver, (MST) and Las Vegas (PST). In addition, partygoers, family and friends will have the opportunity to share their own personal New Year’s Eve merrymaking experiences and holiday wishes by using #VEGASNYE on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

New in 2018, KLAS-TV will be live-streaming exclusive behind the scenes coverage of Countdown to 2019: Live from Las Vegas on LasVegasNow.com including live video feeds from the South Point Hotel and Fremont Street as well as aerial views of the Las Vegas strip. As a result, local digital audiences will have uninterrupted, VIP access to additional live musical performances and exciting bonus content throughout the entire New Year’s Eve celebration, exclusively on LasVegasNow.com.

The KLAS-TV broadcast event will air live in 11 other Nexstar television cities across the country including San Francisco, Fresno and Bakersfield, CA; Honolulu, HI; Albuquerque, NM; Phoenix, AZ; Grand Junction and Colorado Springs, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; El Paso, TX; and Portland, OR. Additionally, Nexstar’s local ABC affiliate serving Billings, MT will live-stream the event.
