The one-hour live virtual Town Hall will be hosted from the WWLP 22News studios in Chicopee, MA, and air from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET.  Viewers can submit their questions via email to reportit@wwlp.com or submit them through the Report It! tab on wwlp.com or the 22News mobile app. Viewers are invited to submit questions via social media using the hashtag #22NewsCOVID19. Preference will be given to those questions submitted on social media as videos rather than texts.

The television broadcast will be hosted by WWLP 22News Anchor Don Shipman and will air on Nexstar’s station in Springfield, MA, WWLP-TV (NBC). The livestream of the telecast will be available on wwlp.com. WTEN-TV in Albany, NY, will also provide a livestream of the Town Hall on its website, news10.com.  The program will also air live in Berkshire County on Charter Cable Channel 14 in the greater West Stockbridge, Pittsfield and North Adams areas, or Channel 16 in the greater Lee area.  Additionally, western Massachusetts residents will be able to listen to the virtual town hall live on 94.7 WMAS-FM and on 947wmas.radio.com.

The Town Hall will open with Mr. Shipman providing a recap of the latest developments in the pandemic.  He will then turn to the government, community, and business leaders to talk about the current state of the coronavirus in western Massachusetts, unemployment, the phased reopening of the commonwealth, business recovery, education, and pose questions submitted by viewers.

“We need to discuss local and state issues related to the pandemic in a meaningful way now in order to develop long-term solutions, and local broadcast journalists are uniquely positioned to facilitate the conversation,” said Tim Busch, President of Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.  “This virtual town hall will bring together federal legislators, business and community leaders to answer important questions about the ongoing crisis.  As western Massachusetts begins to enter various phases of reopening, businesses, educators, frontline workers, and government leaders have questions and want to have a conversation with all of them.  We are grateful to each of all of these guests for their participation, and for allowing Nexstar Broadcasting and WWLP 22News to deliver this special event to viewers across a significant footprint of the state.”
