NewsNation Continues Coverage of America’s 250th Birthday with New History Documentary “Patriots and Plotters: Bill O’Reilly’s Unsung Heroes and Villains of The American Revolution”

One-Hour Multiplatform Special Presentation Premieres July 2nd at 9 p.m. ET

CHICAGO, IL (June 24, 2026) – NewsNation, the country’s fastest-growing cable news network in total day and primetime, today announced that it will air “Patriots and Plotters: Bill O’Reilly’s Unsung Heroes and Villains of the American Revolution,” a new one-hour multiplatform special program honoring America’s 250th birthday. “Patriots and Plotters” will debut on Thursday, July 2, at 9 p.m. ET, airing in place of that evening’s edition of On Balance.

“As America commemorates the 250th anniversary of its founding, there is no better time to revisit the extraordinary figures whose courage and sacrifice helped shape our nation’s history,” said Michael Corn, NewsNation President of Programming & Specials. “The special offers a compelling look at the people and events that defined our nation, bringing history to life for a new generation. We are proud to feature it as part of our ongoing America 250 coverage.”

Hosted by Chief Washington Correspondent Leland Vittert, the documentary features historian and best-selling author Bill O’Reilly who offers an off-beat and irreverent look at the lesser-known figures who helped shape the American Revolution. Traveling to Boston, the cradle of the American Revolution, Mr. O’Reilly examines men and women he believes deserve far greater recognition, as well as those who attempted to undermine the cause. The special features exclusive access to key sites where pivotal moments of the Revolutionary War unfolded, bringing those places to life through O’Reilly’s signature storytelling.

On one side are the overlooked patriots: the former street thug who became the indominable mastermind of American artillery; the former enslaved man who killed the highest-ranking British officer at Bunker Hill; and the Jewish immigrant who gave his personal fortune to bankroll the Revolution. On the other are the plotters and failures, including the corrupt traitor who plotted against George Washington; the cowardly general who was stripped of his command; and Benjamin Franklin’s illegitimate son, whose loyalty to King George III led to his arrest.
