Nexstar Media Foundation Announces Honorees for Day Twenty-Five of “30 Days of Giving” Initiative

Building Twentyone and Fighting With Hope Named as Recipients of $5,000 Grants

Irving, TX (June 25, 2026) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation is making a $5,000 contribution to both Building Twentyone and Fighting With Hope as part of the company’s “30 Days of Giving” initiative, a month-long program recognizing and supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint.

“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each. Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.” Building Twentyone and Fighting With Hope were nominated by employees at WLNS-TV, the Nexstar television station serving Lansing, MI, and WKRG-TV in Mobile, AL, respectively.

Building Twentyone empowers teens to discover passion and purpose by providing a safe and engaging space. The youth-driven center serves middle and high school students from across the Greater Lansing area and provides mentorship, leadership opportunities, hands-on experiences, and positive peer relationships. Its programs are designed to help students gain confidence, build character, develop real-world skills, and grow a community connection before the age of 21.

“We are proud to support Building Twentyone,” said Marci Daniels, Vice President and General Manager of WLNS-TV in Lansing, MI. “We want to see teens thrive and be confident so they can step into adulthood prepared and with purpose.”

Fighting With Hope is a non-profit ministry dedicated to bringing hope and encouragement to those facing cancer. The organization was founded by WKRG Meteorologist Caroline Carithers’ older sister, Emily, who fought colon cancer for nearly seven years. During her journey, Emily and her husband created personalized care boxes for cancer patients to help alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy. Each box is filled with practical gifts, heartfelt messages of encouragement, and a prayed-over blanket.

Sadly, Emily passed away on February 20, 2025. In her honor, Fighting With Hope continues its mission, and has packed and shipped over 1,500 chemo boxes free of charge across 50 states and several different countries.

“This organization is personal to us at WKRG,” said Jesse Grear, Vice President and General Manager of WKRG-TV in Mobile, AL. “Emily was the sister of Caroline Carithers, one of our meteorologists. And ‘Fighting With Hope’ was started after finding out all the things cancer patients could use during their struggles. These ‘Hope Boxes’ sent to cancer patients through your donations provide some temporary comfort during really hard times and when ‘Hope’ may be the only thing they’re hanging onto.”
