Nexstar Broadcasting Names Ward Huey Vice President And General Manager Of Tyler / Longview, Texas Television And Digital Operations

Texas Native and Accomplished Industry Executive with over 20 years of Local Broadcasting / Sales Experience to Lead KETK-TV, KFXK-TV, KFXL-TV, KLPN-TV and MyEastTex.com

TYLER, LONGVIEW and IRVING, Texas – Nexstar Broadcasting Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) announced today that Ward Huey has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of KETK-TV (NBC) and associated digital services, including community web portal MyEastTex.com serving the Tyler / Longview, TX market (DMA #109). In his new role, he will also be responsible for overseeing the joint operating agreement with White Knight Broadcasting, Inc. for television stations KFXK-TV (FOX), KFXL-LD (FOX) and KLPN-LD (MyNetworkTV). The appointment is effective immediately and Mr. Huey will report to Brian Jones, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Ward Huey’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans over two decades, including four years with Nexstar, and he brings a comprehensive background in local, national and regional sales, new business development, inventory control and strategic planning across multiple media platforms to his new role. Mr. Huey most recently served as the Director of Sales of KNWA-TV (NBC) and KFTA-TV (FOX) in Fort Smith / Fayetteville, AR, where he consistently demonstrated effective broadcasting sales leadership, overseeing all local and national sales efforts while developing meaningful traditional and non-traditional revenue streams for the station’s multi-platform marketing services. During his tenure, he developed and led highly effective teams that implemented creative sales strategies and new media initiatives, resulting in station revenue share growth, higher customer retention and an increase in new local direct business partners.

He joined Nexstar from KUTL-TV (ABC) in Tulsa, OK, where he served as General Sales Manager. While at KUTL, he enhanced sales department performance and exceeded company objectives by delivering comprehensive marketing solutions and extraordinary client service to local and national advertisers. He developed extensive local sales expertise throughout his career, previously serving as Local Sales Manager at KFOR-TV (NBC) in Oklahoma City, OK from 2001-2006 and KENS-TV (CBS) in San Antonio, TX from 1999-2001. Mr. Huey also has experience serving as a Group Marketing Director of a software company and as a National Account Executive for a television advertising sales rep firm. Earlier in his career, he held Local Account Executive positions at several network-affiliated local television stations located in the Southwest and Southeast.

Mr. Huey earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport and holds a Masters of Arts in Television Management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

He has served on the ABC Sales Advisory Board and was a Marketing Committee Member for the Tulsa Area United Way. Mr. Huey has also served as the Legislative Chairman of the Oklahoma City Ad Club and was a member of the Greensboro Jaycees.

Mr. Huey and his family will be immediately relocating to East Texas.
