SPARTANBURG, SC and IRVING, TX (May 18, 2020) – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), announced today that it will host an exclusive live virtual Town Hall meeting, “South Carolina Responds: Your Questions Answered,” featuring a cross section of South Carolina’s federal, state and local government officials, and health and education leaders on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Town Hall will include U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R), U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R), Governor Henry McMaster (R), Ted Pitts, President and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, John Tecklenburg, Mayor of Charleston City (D), Karen Riordan, CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Molly Spearman, State Superintendent of Education, and Dr. Linda Bell, SC State Epidemiologist, Department of Health and Environmental Control.
The one-hour virtual Town Hall will originate from the studios of WSPA-TV/7 News in Spartanburg, SC, and bring together more than seven million viewers across 46 counties in South Carolina via television broadcast and livestream video. The live broadcast will air from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Viewers can submit their questions via email to SCresponds@nexstar.tv or on social media using the hashtag #SouthCarolinaResponds. Preference will be given to those questions submitted on social media as videos rather than texts.
The television broadcast will be hosted by WSPA-TV/7News anchors, Amy Wood and Gordon Dill, WCBD-TV Anchor, Brendan Clark, and WBTW-TV Anchor, Meghan Miller. The town hall will air on six Nexstar television stations serving South Carolina including, WSPA-TV (CBS) in Spartanburg, SC, WJZY-TV (FOX) in Charlotte, NC, WSAV-TV (NBC/CW) in Savannah, GA/Hilton Head, SC, WCBD-TV (NBC/CW) in Charleston, SC, WBTW-TV (CBS) in Florence/Myrtle Beach, SC and WJBF-TV (ABC) in Augusta, GA/Aiken, SC. Local viewers may also access a livestream of the Town Hall online by visiting the website of their local Nexstar television station (see table below for list of participating stations and station website links).
The Town Hall will begin with viewer submitted questions presented to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. That will be followed by more viewer and social media submitted questions for Senators Graham and Scott. We also will explore every aspect of the Coronavirus impact from your health and health care, to South Carolina tourism, the impacts on schools, and finally the impact on small businesses and South Carolina manufacturers.
