Nexstar Media Foundation Announces Honorees for Day Fifteen of “30 Days of Giving” Initiative
Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley and Buffalo Warriors Hockey Named as Recipients of $5,000 Grants
Irving, TX (June 15, 2026) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation is making a $5,000 contribution to both Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley and Buffalo Warriors Hockey as part of the company’s “30 Days of Giving” initiative, a month-long program recognizing and supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint.
“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each. Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.”
The Foundation today recognized Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley and Buffalo Warriors Hockey as recipients of $5,000 grants. The organizations were nominated by employees at KSVI/KHMT-TV, the Nexstar television stations serving Billings, MT, and WIVB-TV in Buffalo, NY, respectively.
Family Promise of Yellowstone Valley is dedicated to helping homeless families receive access to safe and affordable housing, as well as achieve economic stability and long-term self-sufficiency. Services include eviction prevention services, emergency shelter for up to 30 families, a transitional housing program, financial coaching, job training, and aftercare services once families “graduate.” Through its “wraparound break the cycle of poverty” approach, Family Promise consistently sees strong outcomes with over 90% of families maintaining long-term housing stability.

The Buffalo Warriors Hockey organization, founded in 2012, provides recreational on-ice opportunities to local veterans, using sled hockey and traditional stand-up hockey to support their physical and emotional rehabilitation and improve their quality of life. The organization currently serves more than 150 athletes across its Buffalo Warriors stand-up hockey teams and the Sabres Sled Vets sled hockey team.
Veterans and active-duty military members from across Western New York are welcome to participate regardless of age, ability, or financial circumstances. The Buffalo Warriors provide gear for new players, offer most programs at no cost, and coach veterans on everything from basic skating to hockey fundamentals. It also helps offset the cost of equipment, league and tournament fees, and travel costs for its members as they compete in league play and tournaments around the country.

Commenting on his nomination of the Buffalo Warriors, WIVB-TV Account Executive Shawn Mckirchy said: “I have been with the organization for almost 10 years and have made lifelong friends similar to when I was in the military. The organization helps send veterans to local practices, league play, local tournaments, and national tournaments. Recently, I was able to travel to Dallas for the USA Hockey Warriors National Championships and would not have been able to do so without Buffalo Warriors Hockey.”
