Nexstar Media Foundation Announces Honorees for Day Three of “30 Days of Giving” Initiative
Birmingham Service League and Kids Helping Kids Sacramento Named as Recipients of $5,000 Grants
Irving, TX (June 3, 2026) – Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXST), today announced that the Nexstar Media Charitable Foundation is making a $5,000 contribution to both the Birmingham Service League and Kids Helping Kids Sacramento as part of the company’s “30 Days of Giving” initiative, a month-long program recognizing and supporting nonprofit and charitable organizations serving communities across Nexstar’s nationwide footprint.
“30 Days of Giving” is an employee‑driven initiative created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nexstar’s founding in June 1996. Locally-led committees reviewed submissions from Nexstar’s 13,000 employees and selected charitable and nonprofit organizations to nominate for grants. More than 100 organizations were nominated, and the Nexstar Charitable Foundation’s Board of Directors chose 60 to receive $5,000 each. Every day during the month of June, the Foundation will award two $5,000 grants; by the end of the month the Foundation will have committed $300,000 to “30 Days of Giving.”
The Foundation today recognized the Birmingham Service League and Kids Helping Kids Sacramento as recipients of $5,000 grants. Employees at WIAT CBS 42 the Nexstar television station serving Birmingham, AL, and KTXL FOX40 in Sacramento, CA, nominated the organizations.
The Birmingham Service League is committed to compassionately serving individuals in the Birmingham community through needs-based philanthropic programs funded in part by its Encore Thrift Shop. Proceeds benefit two signature initiatives serving children in need. Clothes for Class provides K–5 in 50 elementary schools and 18 middle schools appropriate school attire, warm hoodies, including socks and underwear, a personal hygiene kit, and a book from the Kids’ Book Nook. Through Clothes for Class Shoppers, up to 25 students receive up to $150 each so they can select their own clothing spending.
“Birmingham Service League’s mission to serve children in need throughout our community is a wonderful example of how a group of volunteers can positively impact on the lives of so many,” said Jimmy Cromwell, Vice President and General Manager of WIAT CBS 42 in Birmingham, AL. “Members of our CBS 42 family have served at their Clothes for Class and Clothes for Class Shoppers and the volunteers’ passion for their work has touched many of us.”
Jen Troxell, an Account Executive at WIAT CBS 42, nominated the organization for the “30 Days of Giving” grant and said: “This 80+ women volunteer organization has been serving underprivileged Birmingham area school children for decades (formerly as the Assistance League of Birmingham). It is truly a hometown operation that serves children in our local community. Many of the children we serve have never had brand new clothes…or their own book…or, sometimes, their own toothbrush. It seems like a small thing to give a kid a new pair of jeans and a hoodie – but it is actually a very big part of their educational journey!”
