Community Representatives Will Address Race Relations and the “Black Lives Matter” Movement in Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York, PA

HARRISBURG, PA (July 20,2020) – WHTM-TV (ABC27), Nexstar Broadcasting’s television station serving Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York, PA (DMA #47), announced today that it will host an exclusive Town Hall meeting examining the topics of race relations, the “Black Lives Matter” movement, how to recognize personal prejudice and how to promote positive dialogue about issues of social justice. The Town Hall meeting, titled “Finding Hope Together,” will air on ABC27 on Wednesday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The program will be hosted from the Harrisburg studios of ABC27 and feature several guests including, Alaak Deu, an organizer of the Black Lives Matter protests in Lancaster; Marquis Lupton, co-founder of The Cultured Professional Network which highlights voices of the disenfranchised in central Pennsylvania; Dr. Leroy Hopkins, president of the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania; and singer Terria Chrichelle. ABC27 anchor James Crummel will lead the discussion and serve as the moderator of the telecast, which will conclude with a performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” – often referred to as the Black National Anthem.

Visitors to the website will also find a series of vignettes produced by ABC27 featuring community, religious, political and law enforcement leaders across central Pennsylvania who, in their own words, speak to the issues of racial bias and prejudice in our communities and answer questions about how we can begin healing process.
