PEORIA (July 23, 2020) – WMBD-TV, Nexstar Broadcasting’s television station serving Peoria and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, announced today that it will host an exclusive Town Hall-style program examining the topics of race relations, the “Black Lives Matter” movement, how to recognize personal prejudice and how to promote positive dialogue about issues of social justice.  The program, titled “Together We Rise,” will air on WMBD-TV on Wednesday, July 29, at 8:00 p.m. CT with a continuing second hour airing on WYZZ-TV starting at 9:00 p.m. CT.

The program will be hosted from the Peoria studios of WMBD/WYZZ and feature community, religious, political and law enforcement leaders across Central Illinois who, in their own words, will speak to the issues of racial bias and prejudice in our communities and answer questions about how we can begin the healing process.  WMBD/WYZZ anchors, Eugene Daniel and Shelbey Roberts, will lead the discussion and serve as hosts of the telecast.

“Together We Rise” will be livestreamed and available on www.CIProud.com.

“We are giving the people of Central Illinois an opportunity to have a conversation about race that they might otherwise never get the chance to have,” said Shelbey Roberts.  “Together, we can rise to better listen, understand and learn from each other.”
