Nexstar acquired KOZL in late 2003 as part of our acquisition of Quorum Broadcasting. KOZL Ozarks Local operates under various local agreements with Mission Broadcasting station KOLR. Both stations operate under a Joint Sales Agreement, and have grown revenue share by integrating Nexstar sales systems and inventory management. In September 2011, KOZL Ozarks Local added staff and doubled local programming from 12 to 24 hours per week. In addition to the market-leading hour-long 9 p.m. news in High Definition, KOZL now offers two hours of local news in the morning, a market-exclusive hour-long lifestyle show at 4 p.m., and the market’s only live 30-minute local sports shows, airing on Saturdays and Sundays. KOZL also added a 6 p.m. local newscast on Sunday, and continues to develop other local programming. Syndicated programming includes Two and a Half Men, My Name is Earl, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother and The Simpsons. Fresh, original programming airs 52 weeks a year with “Inside Edition” and “The Insider.” The station is the home to SEC Basketball. Both KOZL and KOLR benefit from regular strategic planning meetings with our existing stations in Missouri and maximize regional news content opportunities from sister stations within our region. Ozarks Local covers a large 31 county area.
