Nexstar Broadcasting purchased WETM-TV (NBC) from Newport Television on December 1st, 2012. WETM also operates WETM.2, an independent TV station in the Elmira-Corning market. While the Elmira-Corning DMA is comprised of 4 counties, the WETM “service area” covers a total of 6 counties: Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler and Tioga Counties in NY and Tioga and Bradford Counties in PA.

In addition to a full line-up of NBC prime, news and sports programming, WETM carries top-rated syndicated programming, including Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, plus a number of highly successful syndicated talk shows. WETM’s local news has long been the market leader, regularly delivering as many as 6 times more viewers than the competitive local newscasts combined. WETM.2, the independent station carries popular syndicated programming plus a wide variety of local programming, including local high school sports, holiday parades, telethons, and live political debates.

WETM has been long recognized as a community leader, supporting a wide variety of community outreach organizations and events. The station’s website, www.mytwintiers.com also has a dominant presence in the local news and information market, recording as many as 4 Million page views per month.
