Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased WJKT-TV a FOX affiliate, from Newport Broadcasting Corporation in December of 2012. WJKT-TV Channel 16 signed on in 1985, becoming Jackson’s third television station. Today, WJKT airs all national breaking news coverage from Fox News and carries a one hour local /regional newscast created by sister station Local 24 in Memphis. WJKT is a sister station to Memphis CW affiliate WLMT and ABC affiliate WATN. All three stations share studios in Memphis with offices in Memphis and Jackson. Local newscasts are produced and available on each station throughout the day serving local viewers with compelling and relevant content and available live in Jackson during severe weather events. WJKT’s syndicated programming includes Dr. Phil, Judge Judy, the Big Bang Theory and favorites like Andy Griffith. Viewers of WJKT enjoy Fox Prime programs like American Idol.
