Station Profile
Nexstar acquired WMBD, a CBS affiliate located in Peoria, in January 2001, after operating the station from 1999 under a Time Brokerage Agreement. Later in 2001, Nexstar entered into a Joint Operating Agreement with Sinclair Broadcasting, and now operates WYZZ, the Fox affiliate serving the area. The consolidation of the two operations has led to significant improvement in revenues and profits. WMBD and WYZZ focus on special projects and inventory management to improve revenue share. WMBD was able to enhance its coverage of Bloomington, Illinois by utilizing the former WYZZ facility. WMBD’s syndicated programming includes Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Law & Order, Martha Stewart and Inside Edition, as well as offering Illinois State basketball. The station serves the area with both an analog and digital signal.
