Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased WNCT a CBS affiliate, from Media General. Throughout its history Channel 9 has held a strong commitment to the many communities it serves. That commitment is stronger than ever today, including giving the viewers in Eastern North Carolina the best possible programming and local news coverage. WNCT was the first station to broadcast in market and the first to broadcast in color more recently WNCT became the first station in the market to broadcast in digital and in full power High Definition.
