Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased WSYR-TV, an ABC affiliate, from Newport Television on December 1, 2012. Throughout its 50-year history, WSYR-TV NewsChannel 9 has always been strongly committed to the communities it serves. WSYR-TV produces the top rated local news programming in the Syracuse market. Working together for more than 25 years the station’s main news anchors, Carrie Lazarus and Rod Wood, are one of the longest running anchor teams in the country.
