Station Profile

In January 1998 Bastet Broadcasting acquired WYOU TV, a CBS Affiliate. Bastet concurrently entered into a shared services agreement with Nexstar Broadcasting station WBRE. Following extensive consolidation and construction WYOU TV moved its operations into the WBRE facility. In September 2002 Bastet Broadcasting merged with and into “Mission Broadcasting of Wichita Falls, Inc.,” a corporation organized and existing under the laws of the state of Delaware. In November 2002 “Mission Broadcasting of Wichita Falls, Inc.” changed its name to Mission Broadcasting Inc. The station’s syndicated programming includes Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, Entertainment Tonight, and The Insider. “Annually WYOU broadcasts “The Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade” which is the 3rd largest parade in honor of the Irish in the United States. Since 1999 the station has televised the “Children’s Miracle Network Celebration” a local event which raises upwards of 1.6 million dollars each year to aid in research and critical care for sick and injured children.” In November 2002 WYOU began broadcasting both a digital and analog signal. In October 2004, WYOU entered into a Joint Sales Agreement with WBRE, allowing for more effective marketing of both stations’ advertising inventory. In November 2004 WYOU moved its sales and business office to the WBRE facility. On February 17, 2009 WYOU terminated its over the air analog broadcast signal in accordance with the nation’s transition to Digital Television.
