Nexstar Broadcasting Group purchased WFFF, a FOX affiliate, from Smith Broadcasting on March 1, 2013. WFFF is the market’s youngest station, signing on August 31, 1997. The station is known in the market as Local 44 and broadcasts in Vermont, Northern New York, and New Hampshire’s Grafton and Sullivan counties. It also has significant viewership in Montreal, Quebec. WFFF became the first station to broadcast a local 10pm newscast with the launching of FOX 44 Local News at 10pm in December 2007. It was also the market’s first HD newscast.
FOX 44 Local News at 10pm expanded to an hour in September 2009. The station is also home to syndicated programs like Modern Family, Two and Half Men, and The Big Bang Theory. FOX prime and blockbuster sports like NFL, NASCAR, and NY Yankees and Red Sox baseball make WFFF a favorite with both local and Canadian viewers.
