Nexstar Media Group purchased WHTM-TV (ABC affiliate) from Media General in 2016.

WHTM-TV, abc27 News “Your Local News Source” and Weather “Your Most Accurate Local Forecast” serves the ten county South Central Pennsylvania region across all platforms (TV, Desktop and Mobile). WHTM-TV is committed to bring our local communities the news they want and to provide the best environment for viewer engagement along with keeping our viewers informed and safe.

In January 2019, WHTM-TV debuted a new, state-of-the-art, 11,000-square foot Content Center that includes our “Digital Now Center” which allows us to push digital content to our viewers at any time of the day on abc27.com and our mobile apps. The expanded facilities include a variety of new sets for daily news broadcasts and digital content initiatives.

In addition to six hours of news Monday through Friday, the station also produces “Good Day PA,” a daily one-hour live lifestyle program, and “This Week in Pennsylvania,” a weekly political insight program focused on state government and is distributed to over forty-five of the state’s sixty-seven counties. WHTM’s syndicated viewing options include “Live with Kelly & Ryan,” “Hot Bench,” “Judge Judy” and “Inside Edition.”

Cable/ADS penetration in the market is estimated to be at 87.4% (60.7% wired, 27.5% ADS). The unemployment rate has continued to decrease since 2010, below the national average. The largest employers in this Capital Region are the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government. Other major employers include Hershey Foods Corporation, TE Connectivity and numerous healthcare companies (Highmark, UPMC Pinnacle, Penn State Health).
